This is another addition to my series of paintings. I wanted to do something different than the others. I enjoy the negative space here and I hope you can just let your eyes wander on the different strands presented. 

Purple is such a fun color to work with. Such a nice color. 

Relaxing yet regal in a way. These strands are like braids or chains coupled with a multi feeling-full color. 

Purple used to be my favorite color in elementary school. yay!

maybe I'll do a green one next. :D

leis and warm feelings

So this weekend I went a little nuts and bought tons of canvas. Partially to paint things for our methods class :P but also because I wanted to paint :) 


I started a piece today (it's the black one on the easel) it's gotta be done by tomorrow. :P


So I began to paint.

I credit this inspiration to my roommate Nahinu. She was saying how my previous painting reminded her of lei's from back home and well, here we are now.

I feel like I need to find another technique though. I'm not sure if these can be painted more than once without being over done. blue, red, green, purple. yes yes colors are easy to change but the angles! what to do? 


I've got 5 more canvases to go so we'll see what happens ;)

Alex and I went to SAM (Seattle Art Museum) this past weekend and I saw a painting done by an Aborigine artist. It was super cool and I wanted to do something like it.

The brush strokes demonstrate what I think the wind would look like. It's tinted a light blue and I might go over it in a darker blue but we'll see :)

I don't really plan any of my paintings so I like this form of painting. It's free formed and free flowing.

I want to do another painting soon! Hopefully a really big canvas (if can afford) and maybe the ocean?!
